A purpose-built garden office in St Albans for a couple working from home — insulated, acoustically considered, and designed for all-day comfort.
Our clients in St Albans needed a dedicated workspace that would allow them to work from home without encroaching on family life. The brief called for a garden office that felt professional, comfortable in all seasons, and sympathetic to their Victorian terrace garden.
We positioned the building to capture morning light from the east while screening views from neighbouring properties with careful planting and a partial privacy screen. Western red cedar cladding softens the structure against the garden backdrop, and a corner window arrangement brings daylight deep into the desk zone.
The interior is fitted with a built-in desk spanning the full width of the rear wall, concealed cable management, dedicated data points, and acoustic insulation that keeps video calls private. Underfloor heating and high-spec insulation mean the office is comfortable year-round without excessive running costs.
