Bespoke Garden Room Rickmansworth

This Rickmansworth garden room began with a detailed design consultation rather than a catalogue configuration. Our clients wanted a multi-purpose space — part lounge, part dining area for summer entertaining, part quiet retreat — and the plot's canal-side position demanded careful orientation and glazing design.

The resulting building combines charred timber on the garden elevation with lighter painted cladding on the sides visible from the house. Bi-fold doors across the full width of the south-facing wall open the room to a new stone terrace, blurring the boundary between inside and out during warmer months.

Every element was considered individually: the roof pitch calibrated to sit below sight lines from the house, the internal layout zoned for different activities, and the material palette chosen to complement both the property and the mature trees along the canal. This is garden room design as architecture, not product.
